The Multi-State Alternate Assessment (MSAA) is the alternate to the Smarter Balanced and ACT tests for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. The test content is English language arts (ELA) and mathematics. Students in grades 3-8 and 11 participate in this test to meet ESSA statewide assessment requirements. The MSAA assessment is aligned to simplified and prioritized college and career ready standards called the Core Content Connectors.
