Director of Photography
Work-Related Duties:
- Write, produce, and direct OPI productions.
- Professional cinematographer and photographer.
- Video, audio, photo editing and postproduction specialist.
Steve has worked for the OPI for 33 years pioneering agency technologies and filming projects. He is a recipient of three Governors Awards for Excellence for his innovative use of technology for Montana schools and state government.
- Created a graphic user interface for Montana schools that served a messaging system prior to the introduction of internet connectivity. This system (Montana Educational Telecommunications Network, METNET) served Montana Schools for over 25 years.
- State Coordinator for NetDay, Montana (1996). This national event, in coordination of the United States Airforce, internally wired over 30 Montana rural/remote schools for preparation to connect to the Internet.
- Member of the team that wrote specifications for Montana’s video conferencing network.
- An original investor in Montana Internet Corporation, bringing internet to the Helena valley.
- Created the first Web site and server in State government in 1992.
- Introduced streaming video technology over the internet for the State of Montana Legislative services by streaming live video of the House, Senate and two hearing rooms in the early 2000s.
In his free time, he works on independent films, photography, and holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo.
