Montana Traffic Education Director
Montana DRIVE Supervisor
Work Related Duties:
- Approves district applications and instructors to teach traffic education.
- Montana DRIVE supervision of the advanced driving school in Lewistown, MT.
- Montana DRIVE CDL supervision of the new program expediting the process for schools to get bus drivers.
Mike Houghton is the Director of Traffic Education for the Montana Office of Public Instruction. After several years in a variety of private sector positions, he attended Helena College, garnering an A.A.S. in Construction Technology. Transferring to Montana State University – Northern, Mike earned a B.S.Ed. with an endorsement in Industrial Technology.
While teaching Industrial Technology in Manhattan, MT, Mike returned to MSUN and secured a minor in Traffic Safety Education.
Mike moved to the OPI as the Industrial Technology Specialist, spent time as an Education Specialist, recruiting and training apprentices for a large construction company and has returned to the OPI as the Traffic Education Director.
Mike looks forward to promoting and helping to prepare safe drivers on Montana roadways while working with the many incredible, dedicated individuals changing lives in the education world.
