In February of 2021 Dwight Nelson was hired by the Office of Public Instruction to oversee state-approved Traffic Education programs and supervise the Montana DRIVE advanced driving school. Director Nelson previously was an athletic director, teacher, coach, bus driver, and college professor before obtaining his administrative license from Rocky Mountain College. He is passionate about working with others to make the roads of Montana as safe as possible.

In July of 2022 LeAnn Haas was hired by OPI as the Program Specialist for Traffic Education.  After graduating from MSU-Northern with a degree in Secondary English Education and a minor in Traffic Education, LeAnn pursued her master’s degree in Special Education from MSU-Billings. She began teaching Traffic Education in 2013. Serving previously on the board and more currently the MTEA (Montana Traffic Education Association) President for the 2022 conference year, she comes with valuable skills and knowledge of the position and traffic education program.
