FAQ's & Testimonials

About Montana DRIVE

The one-day workshop includes two hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel maneuvers on a closed raceway track near the Lewistown Airport. Each workshop is limited to 12 drivers with 4 instructors, so every driver benefits from individual attention and has hours of hands-on practice behind the wheel of the skid car, school bus, pickup truck, or ambulance. Drivers learn to respond safely to typical driving risks, gaining confidence and skill.

Testimonial

I was driving home to Great Falls from Missoula on Highway 200. In a hurry, I decided to pass another vehicle on the two-lane road. The problem was, there was black ice on the road and as I pulled into the other lane the back end of the truck started fishtailing to the left. (Read More of the story and read other testimonials)

  • Identifying driver and vehicle limitations,
  • Providing practice in driving behaviors that anticipate and manage risks,
  • Providing confidence-building opportunities to successfully manage critical situations, and
  • Encouraging and practicing "every time" use of seat belts.

Teen drivers with at least six months of driving experience will get the most out of this workshop. Teens must be at least 15 years old with a valid driver license to attend the Teen Workshop. This advanced driver education workshop is not a replacement for novice driver education, but gives the young driver the opportunity to safely practice risky driving conditions on a closed, specially designed track. Young adults up to age 19 are welcome to attend and apply for the scholarship.

SECOND-TIMERS? Young drivers who have already taken a Montana DRIVE Teen Workshop and wish to take it again are asked to wait until June 1 to register, so first-time applicants have a chance to attend the teen workshop.

To register for a one-day teen workshop: Choose one of the six days for the Teen Workshop (see dates for availability). The parent/guardian should complete the billing part of the form. Everyone who applies will receive the State Farm Grant. After submitting the form, you will receive an email with your registration details.
