When: Tuesday evening, December 17th, 2013 at 6:30p.m.
Where: MCT Center for the Performing Arts, 200 North Adams Street, Missoula, MT 59802
The Missoula Community Theatre is pleased to present another evening of theatre for people living on the autism spectrum. The performance will happen on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:30p.m. This special performance of Willy Wonka marks the 3rd year that MCT has made an adapted performance available, after Once upon a Mattress in January 2012 and Miracle on 34th Street the Musical in December 2012.
Willy Wonka is a musical production, adapted for the stage and based on the popular book, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl. It will have slight adjustments to the production, designed specifically for families dealing with sensory integration and spectrum disorders. MCT is working with VSA Montana to provide a safe environment for families to enjoy this scrumdidilyumptious fantasy ride into the land of pure imagination!
The performance will be modified by lowering the light and sound levels. In addition, the theatre's lobby will have designated quiet areas, staffed with autism experts and trained volunteers, for those who may need to leave their seats during the performance. Inside the theatre, volunteers will hold up glow sticks to alert parents and caregivers about upcoming loud noises or applause, allowing them to prepare individuals who might find this disruptive.
There is a ‘social story’ booklet on the MCT website www.MCTinc.org which explains the details of the theatre experience. MCT accommodates accessibility needs upon request. Some accommodations require advance notice. The MCT Center for the Performing Arts has 2 wheelchair spaces and 4 transfer seats.
Tickets are on sale now! Call (406) 728-7529. All seating is reserved. Tickets are $10 each and financial assistance is available for a limited number of tickets.
The performance is expected to run approximately 90 minutes, including a 10-minute intermission.
