The Montana Educational Telecommunications Network is authorized by the Montana Code Annotated (MCA) to offer "assistance to participating school districts with group purchase of instructional and educational materials. (MCA20-32-102 (f))" We offer these Microsoft Select confidential price lists to Montana Public schools.

Software House International is proud to announce that thanks to METNET, Montana schools may now order Microsoft licenses at Select pricing levels directly from SHI. The advantages to schools are significant--first, the prices are outstanding (e.g., Microsoft Office Pro 2000 is only $44.97 per license). Second, there is no minimum purchase. If you only need one license, that's all you order.

Some frequently asked questions:

  1. What does shipping & handling cost? Shipping and handling is $5 per purchase order.
  2. I bought Office 2000, and can't install it on more than two computers. What do I do? If you buy any of the Office 2000 family of products, there’s a special installation key that you must contact kevin_farrell@shi.com to receive. The key is specific to the Montana METNET Select Agreement.
  3. Can I buy just the CD, if that’s all I want? You may, but without a license for the use of the cd, or a school agreement in place, you may not install the software. If you previously bought licenses, and decided that you’d like to buy cd’s for some of those licenses, or if you have a school agreement with Microsoft and Software Express that covers the software, then you may buy the CD. But if you don’t own the license for a piece of software, purchasing the CD will not give you the legal right to use it.
  4. What can I expect to receive from Microsoft? If you're only ordering licenses, nothing at all. You'll keep your invoice from SHI as proof of purchase.
  5. Is Windows 2000 intended to be the upgrade to Windows 98? Not really. Windows Millennium, expected in July-September, is the upgrade for Windows 98. Windows 2000 is an upgrade to Windows NT.
  6. What’s the difference between Office, Office Pro, and Office Premium? Office Pro has everything that Office contains, but also has Access, a database program. Office Premium has everything that Office Pro does, but also has FrontPage and PhotoDraw.
  7. I’ve standardized on Office Pro 97, or Windows 95, or some other version that’s no longer listed on your price list. What can I do? Microsoft allows you to "downgrade" your license in most cases. For instance, if you purchase the license for Office Pro 2000, you may choose to install Office Pro 97 instead. You must have a cd to do so—if you need a part number for a cd like that which is not on the current price list, just contact Kevin Farrell at SHI.
  8. Do licenses include CD's? Licenses do not include installation CD's or manuals.
  9. Can a teacher or faculty member use the software at home without purchasing another license? A school or district does have the option of allowing home-use for work-related purposes, under certain conditions. Details are at http://www.microsoft.com/Education/license/workhome.asp
  10. How do I order? Just use a school purchase order, as you do with other purchases. Be certain to include the item number and description of the licenses or media you'd like to order, and the shipping fee. Then fax or mail your order to Software House International at (877) 289-6088 (toll-free) or (203) 787-0818 if the toll-free exchange doesn't work in your area. To mail, use the address: Kevin Farrell c/o SHI, 2 Riverview Dr, Somerset, NJ 08873.
  11. Can I get a price-list in another format? Sure--just e-mail your request to Kevin Farrell at kevin_farrell@shi.com
  12. What if I have questions about anything else? Just contact Kevin Farrell or Karen Green at SHI. E-mail for Kevin is kevin_farrell@shi.com, fax is (877) 289-6088, and phone is (888) 289-6088. E-mail for Karen is karen_green@shi.com, fax is (732) 868-5885, and phone is (800) 527-6389 x 5884.
