Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau will convene the Montana Council on Educational Opportunity for Military Children on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the district office of the Great Falls Public Schools, 1100 4th Street South. The meeting is tentatively scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meeting topics include identification of military-connected children and testimony from parents and students of military families. The council was created by SB 203 (Senator Ed Buttrey – Great Falls) in the 2013 legislative session. The purpose of the council is to remove barriers to success for children of military families and to facilitate a student’s school placement process, the student’s eligibility for enrollment in educational programs and extracurricular activities, and the student’s on-time graduation.
