Montana schools have 950 students with the disability of autism. Autism is one of the fastest growing disabilities. The Montana Autism Project provides the following free services to Montana public school districts:
- A web site (www.opi.mt.gov/autism/maep) which provides information on autism-related trainings in Montana; free online webinars and current autism news and resources and another website if iPad apps (http://opi.mt.gov/groups/ipad/blog/)
- Monthly newsletter
- Consultation services to school districts from autism specialists to help general and special education staff learn to work with students with autism.
- Workshops and other trainings by MAEP staff for general and special educators.
- Funding for speakers at statewide and regional conferences and trainings.
