National Assessment Governing board nominationsFriday, August 30, 2013, 3:03 pm
The National Assessment Governing Board is seeking five new members for 2014. Please consider promoting the nominations process on your organization’s websites, social media sites, or newsletters, or in an email to members. The board needs people in the following categories: chief state school officer, eighth-grade teacher, fourth-grade teacher, secondary school principal, and general public member. The four-year terms begin in October 2014. Congress established the 26-member Governing Board to set policy for the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as The Nation’s Report Card, which informs the public about student achievement nationwide in a number of core subjects. The deadline for receiving nominations is October 18, 2013. The secretary of education will appoint the members from a list of finalists submitted by the Governing Board.More information about the nominations process can be found at http://nagb.org/nominations2014.
