Plastic and Cardboard Bins available to MT Schools for Recycling Aluminum Cans

Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 12:53 pm

The aluminum manufacturer Alcoa has donated nearly 3,000 plastic and cardboard bins to Montana schools for recycling aluminum cans.  Schools can submit requests for the free bins by calling 1-800-433-8773 or by sending an email to Sandra Boggs at sboggs@mt.gov.  The 22-gallon plastic and cardboard bins are intended to be used for aluminum can recycling and should be placed near trash cans located close to vending machines in schools.  An aluminum can tossed into a recycling bin can be recycled and back on store shelves in less than 60 days. Every time aluminum is recycled, it uses 95 percent less energy than when it was first made. For more information about recycling in Montana visit the DEQ website at www.deq.mt.gov.
