The Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Data Warehouse portion of the Growth and Enhancement of Montana Students (GEMS) project was released on November 15, 2010. The responses are due back to the OPI by January 7, 2011. There will be representatives from school districts on the RFP Review Committee. Vendors will visit the OPI in February to present demonstrations of their product. The intended date for contract award will be in April of 2011.
The Data Governance Committee has continued to review documents that will comprise the Data Governance Manual. The Committee has approved the Master List of Committees, the Data Governance Committee Charter, and the Data Stakeholder Charter. They are currently reviewing the Data Stewards Charter and the Data Access Management Policy. The Data Governance Committee is currently meeting every Friday.
The Executive Team of GEMS travelled to Washington D.C. in November to meet with the U.S. Department of Education, State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). Some of the sessions they attended were the P20 Data Landscape, Building a Sustainable SLDS, Changing Cultures from Annual Reports to Real-Time Tools, Data Use (Early Indicator and Early Warning Systems), and Managing Vendor Relationships and Project Management Tips.
