Montana’s Statewide Longitudinal Education Data System

The Request for Proposals (RFP) for the new data system was released on November 15, 2010 and six proposals were received on January 17, 2011.  These proposals have been evaluated and scored by the SLDS RFP evaluation committee and the top three proposals have been identified.  The top proposals were received from Vexcel/Aspect Software, Versifit, and Pearson/Choice Solutions. These vendors came to Helena On March 1-3 and provided a full-day of detailed demonstrations of their proposed solutions.  These on-site demonstrations were also evaluated and scored by the review committee.  On March 9, 2011 the decision was made and the contract award has been offered to Vexcel/Aspect Software .  Vexcel is owned by Microsoft and Aspect Software comes highly recommended and is staffed with excellent experience in the education environment.  Aspect Software currently has a functioning SLDS data warehouse in Nebraska and Missouri.

The OPI and Vexcel are currently under contract negotiations.  The SLDS plans to exectute the contract by April 15, 2011.  Design and construction of the data warehouse should begin in May.
