Statewide Longitudinal Data SystemMonday, May 3, 2010, 10:43 am
The OPI recently signed a contract with the ESP Solutions Group to assist in the creation of requirements for the Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). The SLDS project is the result of the IES Grant that was awarded to Montana in 2009 to establish a longitudinal data warehouse for K-12 education data. In addition to creating and populating a data warehouse, the project will also put in place improved data governance policies and procedures, lay the framework for future OPI information technology improvements and provide enhanced reporting and data mining capabilities.
The ESP Solutions Group will be working with the OPI until December 2010 and will be interviewing many individuals, including members of Districts, Schools and other entities that the OPI works with.
The final result of the ESP contract will be the Request For Proposal (RFP) that will be used to engage a vendor to build the data warehouse and develop the reporting that will be used in conjunction with the warehouse.
