Free Buckle Up signs for Montana High Schools Request before January 21

Friday, December 28, 2012, 3:52 pm

Please BUCKLE UP So we can see you again.  Request customized metal 12x18" signs with your mascot/school colors before Januay 21, 2013 by contacting OPI Traffic Education. The signs are designed to be mounted under Stop signs at your school parking lot exits.

The idea and design originated in Great Falls with Jerry Olson, the 2012 Montana Traffic Education Teacher of the Year.  Montana Department of Transportation, Highway Safety Office will fund at least two signs customized and given to high schools at no cost to them.

Schools will be asked to coordinate with their local Buckle Up Coordinator or a student group to conduct seat belt surveys before and after the signs are installed and  during Teen Driver Safety Week in October.  Montana Buckle Up Laws place the responsibility on the driver to ensure each occupant is properly buckled or in a child safety seat MCA 61-13-103.  It's all about saving lives.
