Receive a healthy school award: Achieve recognition and cash for your school

Monday, November 28, 2011, 1:31 pm

Is your school working hard to serve nutritious meals at breakfast and lunch, teach children important nutrition concepts and provide opportunities for them to be physically active throughout the school day?  If so, you and your staff deserve recognition for your efforts and should consider going for a Healthy School Award.  You can receive an award for your lunch or breakfast program or for a school wide approach to student health and wellness.

The Healthier Montana Menu Award is designed to recognize healthy lunches or breakfast menus. The HealthierUS School Challenge Award is designed to recognize schools for their nutritious lunches, nutrition education and physical activity provided to the students.

By achieving an award, it can be a great marketing tool for your school nutrition program.  There are cash incentives available and regional school wellness coaches to assist school staff in completing the award applications.
