NSLP/SBP School Food Safety Inspections Conducted in School Year 2009-10

The National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program require two food safety inspections of school cafeterias each year.  In the 2009-10 school year, 506 schools met the two inspection requirement, while 285 schools had one inspection and thirty-one had zero inspections.

All schools are encouraged to continue working toward the goal of two inspections a year.  If a sanitation inspection has not been conducted or you have only participated in one inspection for the 2010-11 school year, please send a lettter requesting an inspection to your local sanitarian.  A sample letter is available at http://www.opi.mt.gov/pdf/schoolfood/haccp/Requestinspection.pdf .
