Supplemental Educational Services and Public School Choice SessionMonday, April 1, 2013, 2:37 pm
Many states now have waivers from the ESEA/NCLB Act of 2001 that requires Supplemental Educational Services (SES) and Public School Choice (PSC) for schools in Improvement, Corrective Action, and Restructuring. Montana is not one of these waiver states. Therefore, schools with these improvement status' must continue to offer SES and PSC. Since the majority of states now do not have to provide these services, the companies that provide them have been very aggressive in Montana. In past years they have concentrated on only the largest districts. Now their efforts are spreading out across Montana. The Title I Unit will be holding a special session at the 2013 Title I Conference to assist districts in understanding the requirements of SES, advertising for services, setting up the program, and other important aspects required under the law. This session will be held April 25, 2013, from 9:30 AM until 10:20 AM at the Best Western Heritage Inn.
