Implementation of Revised Accreditation ProcessTuesday, April 30, 2013, 8:42 am
Effective July 1, 2013, the Office of Public Instruction (OPI) will use the revised Chapter 55 accreditation process. Referred to as the “blended model” the accreditation process will include “assurance standards,” those standards that have been used for accreditation in the past and are found in Chapter 55. The school’s assurance standards will be blended with the school’s “performance standards,” an average of CRT scale scores from the previous spring for grades tested.
In May 2013, the OPI will mail each school a document that shows the accreditation status of the school for 2012-13 if the revised accreditation process had been used this year. This information can be used by each school to get an understanding of how the new process will affect the school’s accreditation in the future.
The accreditation status criteria reference guide outlines the levels of assurance standards and student performance standards used to determine accreditation status for all schools.
The following documents, found at http://www.opi.mt.gov/pdf/Accred/13AccredProcess.pdf, demonstrate in color the levels of assurance standards and student performance standards. There are also two documents that show examples for elementary and high schools.
