As the licensing agency for educators in Montana, the Office of Public Instruction (OPI) has investigative authority to ensure that all licensed educators in Montana are held to the highest standards of professional conduct. If after an investigation the OPI determines that it has sufficient evidence to advocate for negative action against a licensee, the Legal Division will present the OPI's evidence and recommended action(s) to the Board of Public Education, which has the ultimate decision authority on such matters.

If you have concerns regarding the conduct of a teacher or administrator, please do not hesitate to reach out to us here at the Legal Division. Please refer to the main Legal Division page for contact information.
