Health enhancement curriculum content and credits/sex ed
High school graduation requires 1 unit of health enhancement, with 1/2 unit for each of two years. The program is to include age-appropriate content in physical activity, nutrition, alcohol/tobacco/drug use and abuse, family life and sexuality education, prevention and control of disease, accident prevention and safety, violence prevention, mental and emotional health, personal health, consumer health, community health and environmental health. The local school district determines how they will meet the requirements and therefore it is their decision how to address sexuality education. There is no specific unit/hour requirement for any single topic area, this one included.
