The answers to your questions can be found in the Montana Accreditation Standards: http://www.opi.mt.gov/PDF/Accred/05AccredManual.pdf Elementary schools are to provide health enhancement but there is no time requirement in the standards for elementary grades. In the elementary grades, the instruction can be provided by a K-12 health enhancement specialist or by a classroom teacher. (There is a time-related requirement in junior high and high school. One-half unit each year for two years is required, and a unit is defined as 225 minutes per week for the school year.) Recess time cannot be used to fulfill health enhancement requirements.Related Articles
