Election Judges-Training

Q:  What is required for the training of election judges?

A:  School district election judges must meet the requirements of 13-4-203, MCA.  The Secretary of State’s office suggests several options to help school districts meet this requirement:

  1. Use election judges already trained and certified by the county election administrator.
  2. Coordinate with the county election administrator to send election judges to training being done by the county election administrator.
  3. The Secretary of State’s “2010 Election Judge Training” PowerPoint is available on the Secretary’s website at http://sos.mt.gov/Elections/Officials/index.asp, and could be used by any school clerk who wants to conduct their own training.  A CD with this training on it has been sent to each county election administrator so that uniform procedures are incorporated into each county’s election judge training curriculum. A sample Certification is available at your county election administrator’s office.
