Open admission

What is open admission? Is it the law? How do I know which schools have open admission? Must the school district have a policy in their policy manual stating that they have open admission?

School districts in Montana are required to admit children to school that are the appropriate age if a parent or guardian is a resident of the district. (MCA 20-5-101) Some schools will enroll children that reside out side of their district. School districts generally have policies that determine under what conditions they will accept out of district children and whether or not they will charge tuition. You would need to call each individual school district to determine their policies on accepting out of district students and what tuition rate, if any, is charged.
