What is the average teacher's salary in the state of Montana?
Teacher salaries are determined by local school districts through locally developed bargaining procedures. Some salary information may be available from the Montana Education Association, http://www.mea-mft.org/ 1232 East Sixth Avenue, Helena, Montana 59601 (406) 442-4250. We contacted the MEA/MFT in February 2005 and according to the Teacher's union, the average teacher's salary for 2004 was $37,184; for 2005, $38,485. The beginning teacher's salary for Class 1 schools with the exception of the Havre District: 2004: $24,032; 2005: $25,260 The figures are gathered from school districts belonging to the union. About 90% of the school districts in Montana belong to MEA/MFT.
